What does the Beacon app do?
There’s a myriad of amazing initiatives and great Catholic events on in Ireland, that you may not have even heard of! The aim of this app is to make those events discoverable to you, so that they can easily be shared with others, build communities, and allow like-minded Catholics to meet each other and form lasting friendships centred on the faith. You can tailor your search using filters, and tags, to find events based on what you’re into, where you want to go or when you want to go.
With the Beacon app you can:
- ind the latest Catholic events on in Ireland in a centralised place.
- View all the information about that event, such as price, organiser, location, duration, etc.
- Apply filters to tailor your search.
- Save events of interest which will be added to your Bookmarks tab.
- Upload your own events to share with the community.
- View and search for events in map view, to easily pinpoint events near you.
We named the app “Beacon” as it is a sign of hope to young Catholics that you’re not alone in your faith, and this is realised through fellowship. In the words of St. Catherine of Siena, “Be who you are meant to be, and you will set the world on fire”.
Can I add an event to the app?
Yes! Anyone with the app can upload events onto the app to share the word! Just sign up to create your account and then start creating your events. Once you submit an event to the app, it will need to be approved by our moderators (just to ensure appropriate content and check if a duplicate upload already exists etc.), so you may have to wait a few hours before the event will actually be visible on the app!
How do I upload my own event to the app?
You can add your own event by clicking the plus button on the bottom right of the home page tab. You will then be prompted to fill in details about your event such as the title, description of the event, price (if any), category, and poster images to accompany the event. Upon submission of the app, a member of our admin team will have to approve it before it will be made visible on the app.
Can I submit bugs or suggestions on how to improve the app?

How long do you retain Personal Data?
We retain your Personal Data for as long as necessary to provide you with our Services, or for other important purposes such as complying with legal obligations. You may delete your account by emailing us on info@catholicevents.ie. However, we may retain Personal Data for an additional period as is permitted or required under applicable laws. If you have an account with us, we will typically retain your Personal Data for a period of ninety (90) days after you have requested that your account is closed or if it's been inactive for seven (7) years.
In certain cases, you can ask us to correct and update any inaccurate Personal Data using the contact information above, and we will consider your request in accordance with applicable laws.
If a Consumer initiates a data deletion request, Beacon is authorized to delete or anonymize Personal Data of the requesting Consumer from the Services even if that means removing its availability to the Organizer through the Services.
Your rights
Data protection law provides you with rights in respect of Personal Data that we hold about you, including the right to request a copy of the Personal Data, request that we rectify, restrict or delete your Personal Data, object to profiling and unsubscribe from marketing communications.
For the most part, you can exercise these rights by logging in and visiting the My Account page or changing the "cookie settings" in your browser. If you can't find what you're looking for in the My Account page, please contact us on info@catholicevents.ie. Please note that requests to exercise data protection rights will be assessed by us on a case-by-case basis. There may be circumstances where we are not legally required to comply with your request because of the laws in your jurisdiction or because of exemptions provided for in data protection legislation.
